The Tale of the Two Chiangs

A quick flight later and we’re in northern Thailand. Our first stop is Chiang Mai, with a visit to Chiang Rai. 

We’ve had a full four days in the Chiang Mai area, with every day packed with activities and sightseeing. 

For the first day, we explored the old city on foot, visiting temples and markets. 

The next day we took a trip to an ethical elephant sanctuary. It was cool getting up close to the elephants, feeding and bathing them. 

For the third day, we took a trip up to Doi Inthanon National Park, where we reached the highest point in Thailand, looked at some giant pagodas, and took a short trek to a waterfall. 

For the final day, we took a trip to Chiang Rai, where we mainly viewed temples, all nicely colour coded as white, blue and red.

Next up is our final destination, not just in Thailand, but on this massive adventure. Tomorrow, we take a short, windy bus ride to Pai.
