Small island life

I’ve reached the small island of Siquijor, where we spent our time driving around and exploring viewpoints and waterfalls.

I was welcomed into the very nice hostel when I arrived, taking part in their family dinner, where everyone from the hostel goes out for dinner. It was a very nice way to start my time on this island.

The next day, I joined the hostel’s island bike ride, where we drove around to explore some of its sights.

The first stop was a cliff jumping area. I didn’t jump because I couldn’t be bothered getting wet at this point.

Our next stop was a cute waterfall, where I made the effort to get wet this time. This tranquil spot had a rope swing, which I used many times, and a natural slide. A little kid was obsessed with the slide and was constantly going down it.

After a lunch stop, we drove the twisting roads up to the highest point on the island, where you could climb a tower to get a 360 view of everything below.

Our final stop was a cafe overlooking the island. It was a beautiful setting and I’m told sunset there is stunning. We were a little early for that so I enjoyed a mango mojito before we headed back to the hostel to get ready for the evening.

I was told tonight was a big night on the island, it being a Friday. Everyone goes to a live music bar on the beach, including the locals. After another family dinner and some cocktails at the stand on the “bridge”, we headed over to the bar. It was an incredible night, with Filipino bands playing, and dancing and drinking with the locals.

Sadly, the next day I had a bit of a sore head, but still managed to do a bit of driving around the island. Although sadly, I didn’t manage to take any photos.

The following day was an early start as I headed on a ferry to the next island of Bohol.
