Ending how we began
It feels like we’ve gone full circle. We started this trip in a relaxing way, lying on the beaches of Fiji while throwing in some snorkelling now and again. We’re ending this trip in the same way, chilling by the sea, with a snorkelling trip to a big blue hole.
Our trip to Dahab from Cairo via a car was interesting. We were headed onto the peninsula which borders Israel, so as you can imagine, there were military checkpoints everywhere. We saw lots of guns, had our passports checked several times, as well as our bags searched. We did see a pretty epic sunrise though.
On arrival in Dahab, it was time for a quick nap and then an explore of the city itself, which is a very cool seaside place littered with bars and restaurants. There was even a British pub with a giant Welsh flag!
The next morning, we headed to the famous blue hole for a snorkel. This 100m hole is full of corals and fish, being popular with divers. Of course, no photos of the inside, as I wasn’t going to get my phone wet.
After our snorkelling trip, we headed back into town for some lunch.
Then we headed back to the hotel for a nap, as that evening we were heading on a night hike up Mount Sinai. It is said this is the location where Moses received the Ten Commandments.
Getting back to the hotel at noon, it was time for some much needed sleep. After that, we had one final dinner in Egypt and on this trip.
Tomorrow, we’re up at 3am to fly back home for good. We’ve got one more blog post to round Dylan’s adventures off, which will come in the next few days.
