Partying in Paraty

It’s our penultimate stop in South America, Paraty, a beach town just short of Rio de Janeiro. It was a long drive from Foz, which took two days, including a stop in a Danny hotel.

Way back in Arequipa in Peru, there’s been a bit of an in joke with the group in relation to things that work but aren’t exactly good quality. It all started when I made a sandwich with some processed ham and cheese, which was referred to as a “Danny sandwich”.

On our journey to Paraty, we arrived at this hotel, the “Dan Inn”, and we immediately found “Danny” items, including dodgy air con, a broken safe and a crap wardrobe.

Following our interesting night in the Danny hotel, we headed to Paraty and spent the afternoon exploring its historic centre.

The carnival preparations are in full swing here in Paraty and in other places in Brazil.

The next day we did our final activity as a group, a boat trip to several islands dotted around Paraty.

The next stop is our final stop in South America, Rio de Janeiro, as we head to its famous carnival!
