The end of the world
We’re back in Argentina and we’ve reached the bottom of South America, Ushuaia, also known as the end of the world.
Even though it’s the height of the summer, it’s very cold at the bottom of the world. We spent our first day exploring the town, from the end of the world sign to the ships that sail down to Antartica.
As you wander around the town, there’s lots of last minute deals to Antarctica, making it a very tempting prospect. I followed my head rather than my heart and decided not to go and save it for another day.
I then spent the evening having my first Argentinian steak, complete with red wine, a must.
The following day, we headed on a boat into the Beagle channel, which runs south of Ushuaia. Here we saw sea lions, lots of birds and penguins.
We’re now at the southern most tip of the continent, completing our journey south from the most northern point in Colombia. It feels like an achievement crossing the entire continent completely over land.
We’re not done yet though, as the only way is up. It’s time start the last stretch of this journey as we head north to Rio.
