Strictly Buenos Aires
We’ve just had four nights in the capital of Argentina, Buenos Aires, where we wondered the city, went to a drumming concert, and watched a tango show.
After arriving in Buenos Aires and enjoying the local nightlife, the next day we headed off on a walking tour of the main sights. This was more of a history based tour, where we learned of the political history of Argentina, including the Falklands War.
We also checked out the cemetery where Evita is buried (to be honest I’d never heard of her before), along with a theatre that’s been turned into a bookshop.
That evening, we headed to a weekly drumming concert, which was great fun.
Our second day was a bit damp so we didn’t get much done. I did explore the main parliament square and had my haircut for the first time in South America though.
We went to a tango show that evening, complete with a three course dinner and unlimited drinks. It felt like a theatre show, with dancers mixed in with singers and a magician.
For our final day, we headed to La Boca, a very colourful neighbourhood with lots of restaurants and markets. There’s also lots of references to Argentina’s recent victory at the World Cup.
For our final evening, some of us were craving a curry, as we hadn’t had one in ages. We picked the best curry house and off we went. I had a lamb rogan josh, which was the best one I’ve ever had.
Our time in Argentina has again come to an end, but we will be back again for a final stint in a week’s time. We’re now heading to Uruguay on the ferry.
