The run up to Christmas

It’s a weird time of year. We know Christmas is around the corner, but I’ve never had a warm Christmas, nor have I ever gone white water rafting or hiked up a glacier in the days leading up to the big day.

After leaving Pucon, we headed down into Patagonia to the town of Hornopiren via a ferry. There wasn’t anything for us to see here other than camp the night and get up early for a long ferry the next day.

The next day we boarded our ferry towards Futaleufu, a town famous for white water rafting (which we did take part in but have no photos of).

After Futaleufú, we headed to the Hanging Glacier, where we did a hike up to a viewpoint overseeing the glacier.

Following that, we headed to the town of Coyhaique, where we stocked up on those all important Christmas supplies and camped for the night.

We’re barely scratching the surface of Patagonia, but I’m pretty sure already that it’s the most beautiful place I’ve ever been to. I can’t wait to spend the next two weeks in this stunning area.

On Christmas Eve, we head to Rio Tranquilo where we will be spending Christmas. Whatever you’re doing, have a great Christmas. I’ll be camping, eating lots of food and playing games!
