Rolling back the years in LA

We had a 12 hour gap between our flight landing in Los Angeles and continuing to Columbia. So, a bit of sightseeing was in order. But this wasn’t ordinary sightseeing, it was time to roll back 15 years to when I was last in LA.

After landing in LAX and getting the bus to Union Station, we then headed to Hollywood Boulevard.

First, we checked out the viewpoint of the Hollywood sign and walk of fame. My memories came flooding back when I realised that you can’t take a good photo of the sign and have a person (or a dragon) in the foreground. Here’s 2023.

And back in 2009. It turns out I just took the exact same pictures, but in higher quality.

I don’t remember the place being so trashy, but it kind of makes sense I guess. I don’t think a naive 16 year old would have noticed that.

After avoiding many offers of going on a tour of celebrity houses, we headed to Santa Monica.

We went on those rides back in 2009, and they are exactly the same. I hope they have performed some good maintenance on them over the last 15 years. Apologies for the absolutely dreadful quality of these 2009 photos.
