G’day again

We’re back in Australia, this time on the west coast! I had an overwhelming sense of homeliness when I arrived, not really what I was expecting.

It’s bloody cold though. The daytime isn’t too bad, about 15 degrees and sunshine, but the evenings are very cold. I’m glad I packed my jacket. I had to create a makeshift jacket for Dylan though (yes, he’s wrapped in a sock).

Our few days in Perth isn’t really about the sightseeing, we need to get prepared for the big three week road trip up the west coast to Broome.

As soon as I arrived, I met up with the others that I will be doing the road trip with, and they all seem very nice and excited for the next few weeks. A solid start!

The next day was a shopping day. I bought a sleeping bag, an air mattress and pump, some new sunglasses (because I sat on my old ones and broke them) and also some trousers because it’s bloody cold.

That evening, myself and a couple of others going on the trip went to the cinema to watch the rom-com, No Hard Feelings. It was actually pretty good.

The next day we finally got to explore Perth a bit. We went to the quay and the botanic gardens, which had lovely views of Perth city centre.

After packing ready for the trip, we then went to a local beach for dinner with some friends from back home who now live in Perth and I saw my first Western Australia sunset.

For the next three weeks, we will be going on a road trip up the west coast to Broome in a mini bus, camping the entire way. Therefore, you won’t hear from us until after that, with a mammoth update, including how I spent my 31st birthday.

See you in three weeks!
