Strolling around Sydney
The first day was very wet (where’s the Aussie sunshine I’ve been hearing about?!?) so we took a very brief look around the city. The most exciting thing I saw today was a this sign several times, which I kept thinking was Greggs, then being sad that it wasn’t.
That evening I took part in a beer pong tournament in the hostel bar. Being the hostel bar, the drinks were cheap and flowing, which like when I play bowling and pool, improves my skills. Out of 16 players, I got into the semi finals. Although most impressive was when I got four shots in a cup in a row. The crowd was roaring.
I also took the opportunity to play an April fool’s prank on Dylan’s creator and told him he got lost in transit to Sydney. She fell for it (sorry Kay!). Here’s the poster I sent her, but I must confirm that Dylan is very much alive and with me.
Following another damp and lazy morning, it was time to hit the streets and see some sights. While Sydney is Australia’s biggest city, it really only has two iconic sights to see, the opera house and harbour bridge.
But we took a boat out to Manly first, which is a cool area just outside of Sydney. There we took a walk up on to some headland, got wet, and finally saw some big spiders!
On the way back we got some good views of the iconic sights!
The next day we went for a train ride to the spectacular Blue Mountains. As you can see, we got some incredible views.
The next day was spent at Bondi beach, as well as taking a walk over the harbour bridge.
On the final day, we went for a stroll in the botanic gardens.
And, because I’m so adventurous, I went to the Sydney Brewdog bar.
Another night bus awaits tonight. Next stop, Byron Bay!
Brewdog!
