Dylan’s Day at the Zoo

We went to Australia zoo today, which is run by Steve Irwin’s family. What an absolutely incredible place!

There’s a huge number of crocodiles here, which they use to do a show each day. Today’s was performed by Steve’s son, Robert (I’m told it’s rare to get him).

You can walk through some of the enclosures at this zoo, including the koala and kangaroo enclosures. I had a bit of a fright in the kangaroo enclosure, as I was in there early and on my own, where they looked like they were about to gang up on me!

We also saw a whole host of other animals while at the zoo.

My favourite part of the day was where some rangers were walking a wombat around, but it got lazy and just stopped. So they had to pick it up in a trolley. Look how happy he is with himself.

There’s lots of reminders of Steve around the zoo, especially clips from the Crocodile Hunter TV show. I remember watching that show as a kid and I did find it all very moving. What a place!
