Bris

It turns out Brisbane isn’t really Brisvegas, everyone just calls it Bris instead. I did have to think twice a few times as I thought I might be back in Bristol.

Brisbane is a charming little city. There’s not loads to do but it’s good for a couple of days. We spent the day that we arrived just wandering around the central area. There’s even an artificial beach right in the centre.

The hostel I was staying in was a bit peculiar. I would like to speak to the designer because I don’t think they have ever stayed in one. There’s these weird lockers inside the bed above your legs and I kept banging my knees on it everything I turned over in the night. There’s also no bathrooms other than the en-suites in your room, which means waiting an enormous amount of time to go to the toilet. Very problematic if you are in dire need to release a number two. It’s just all very odd in here. The beds were comfy though.

The second day consisted of a hike up the nearest mountain, Mount Cont-Tha. It was very nice up there and the route goes through a botanic gardens. It’s still Easter holidays though so people are everywhere!

The hostel has a very nice bar though, quite cheap too. I basically spent all my evenings here which is a bit sad, but it was good for socialising.

The final day was a trip to Moreton Island. It’s the third biggest sand made island in the world (the biggest is coming soon!). We went to a “desert” and did some sand boarding (not quite the real version so I’d call it sand sledging), then did some snorkelling and kayaking around some shipwrecks and saw loads of little fishies.

Next stop, Noosa!
