Flying in Franz Josef

Last night we made it to the small town of Franz Josef. This is what I expected New Zealand to be all about. There’s lots of hikes, beautiful scenery and the sound of helicopters taking off every minute to go and see the famous glacier here.

Unexpectedly, there was a trip to a bar in a limo, which I just had to get in on. But it wasn’t a late night as there was a big morning ahead.

The thing about doing stuff in New Zealand is that everything is weather dependent. If there’s rain, clouds or wind, then that’s it, you can kiss goodbye to your plans.

Not today though, we went in a bloody helicopter and flew over to the glacier and then did a hike on it! One of the best experiences I’ve ever had. Fortunately, Dylan was allowed to come too!
