Flying water and rotten eggs
Today was a very tiring day! After riding into Rotorua last night it became very apparent that the place smells like gone off egg mayo. That’s all due to the sulphur from the geothermal activity going on around here. I’m not going to pretend I know any of the science surrounding this other than I’m sleeping on volcanic land. Fingers crossed for no eruptions!
The first stop was one of the main geothermal areas called Te Puia (I’ve sadly not been able to remember how to pronounce this one). The main attractions were the mud pools, the geysers and seeing some Kiwi birds! I wasn’t allowed to take photos of them in their sanctuary as they are easily scared but I couldn’t believe they are the size of a football.
Then it was onto the Redwood forest where I had a good walk around and also went on the treetop walkway.
Tomorrow I’m off to see Bilbo and Frodo.
